Happy Voting!

As I hope everyone already knows, election day is finally here!  The day has finally come for our citizens to cast their votes for our next president and I could not be more excited.  Not only will the political ads finally cease, but I love fulfilling my civic duty.

I miss the basic I voted sticker, mine is lame.

I won't get into my own personal political views here, since I'm sure you:
1) don't care, and
2) are tired of hearing about others' views (I know I am!)

This year, for the first time in my life, I live in a swing state.  While the excessive television ads are beyond annoying, it is really exciting to think that my vote may actually matter in this election.  This thought alone made the very cold three hour wait at our polling place bearable.

The line at our polling place this morning, aka ridiculous.

I encourage everyone to take the time to go out and exercise their right to vote today.  Others have fought and died for our right to do so in this country, and in other parts of the world people are still fighting for this right.  Plus, you'll get a sticker.

Anyone else encounter huge lines for voting?

  1. We went at 7 a.m. when the polls opened, and still had to wait in line. Luckily it was only for 20 minutes or so!

    1. There were reports of people getting in line as early as 4.30 in our area (crazy!) so I'm not sure it would have mattered if we got there earlier.

  2. As another swing state resident, I agree with you! While the ads are insanely obnoxious- it's pretty cool to know my state has such a huge impact!

    1. I know, I've never had this kind of pressure before, but it's so exciting!

  3. In Texas we have the option of early voting, so I voted last week and thankfully only had to wait in line for about 10 minutes.

    1. Nice! I used to vote early in IL, but we our location didn't allow for early voting here. Ugh.

  4. I voted on Friday. Yay for early voting, but boo for my vote not mattering. Oh well. My state will vote for who I voted for, so I'm ok with it. :-)
