A Review of 2012

I am more than excited to see 2012 end.  This hasn't been my favorite year--actually, parts of it rather sucked.  I'm not usually one to buy into the whole 'new year, new beginnings' philosophy, but I am embracing it fully this new year.  Instead of wallowing in my own self pity over the last year, I am going to take a minute to focus on the wonderful things I experienced in twenty twelve.

January

We rang in the new year with friends, old and new.  I drank a lot of wine that night and woke up with a terrible hangover to start the year.  Here's to hoping I learned my lesson within the last year and can start 2013 hangover free.

February

In February I took my second bar exam in as many years.  Despite the formal courtroom dress code, I made sure to include some fun by including my Hufflepuff socks, which I am attempting to show off in the picture above.

March

March was full of visitors for us.  First, my dad came to see us, then Molly and I explored the city, and finally our friends Nick and E stopped by.  We also experienced the cherry blossoms in bloom around the tidal basin for the first time.  Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating and the best days for viewing the blossoms was quite gloomy and full of fog.

April

I turned another year older in April, but this realization was lessened by the fact that I got to meet other blogger bees in the area for the first time.  It was the basically the best birthday present ever.

May

In May, we celebrated Brian's birthday.  Unfortunately, I fail at taking pictures, so the picture above is actually from New Year's, but you get the idea.

Just a few days after being sworn in as an attorney in my new state, I headed to Chicago to hang out with even more awesome bee bloggers.  It was an amazing weekend and I can't wait to do it again next year!

July

Brian's mom and step dad visited us and we spent some time visiting our favorite new and old places around DC.  We clearly had an excellent time, as you can probably tell from the picture above.

August

{Insert something exciting here}  Seriously, I can't think of anything exciting that happened in the month of August.  It is the black hole of 2012.

September

We celebrated our one year anniversary with an amazing trip to Greece.  I could relive this month over and over again.

October

We spent a long weekend in October visiting my brother in law and his girlfriend in Boston.  It was my first time visiting the city and we got to see some amazing sights, including historic Fenway Park!

November

For Thanksgiving, Brian and I drove twelve long hours to Tennessee to visit his family.  We saw much of his extended family at a family reunion and as always had a great time with his family.  We also stopped and toured Brian's undergraduate university, which I had never seen before.

December

This month, we went to Illinois to celebrate the holidays with my family and friends.  It was the first time I had been back in over a year and it felt great to see and hang out with so many family and friends.  I have yet to edit any of my pictures from the trip, so you'll have to settle for this one I took with the creepiest Santa ever.

And, that was my twenty twelve.  What was your favorite memory from the last year?  Did anyone do anything amazing in August to make up for my lack of anything noteworthy?

  1. So impressed that you managed to survive 2 bar exams in 2 years. I never want to take another bar exam as long as I live.

    1. I said the same thing...and I handwrote both exams. Basically, I'm going to hold it over Brian's head for-ev-er.

    1. I know that, but I didn't get to celebrate with you. Therefore, August is back to black-hole status. Love you!!
