Friday Favorites

Is it just me, or do five day work weeks seem incredibly long when they follow a short work week?  Well, that's how this week has felt for me.  It felt like this week was never going to end, so I am so happy that Friday (and the weekend) is finally here!

Pitch Perfect

I know I'm a few months late on this, but I just saw this movie and cannot get over how hilarious it is.  I knew it was something I would love, since it has plenty of fun a cappella numbers performed by a great cast, including Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick. Brian was really dreading watching it, but even he admitted that it was very funny.

Relationship Advice

Now that I take public transportation to work everyday, my faith in humanity has been on a steady decline. I see ignorance, arrogance, and general apathy toward others on a regular basis. I do my best to maintain a positive outlook and demeanor, but this list was a good reminder for me this week, both in how I treat those in my personal life and those I encounter in public.

Bee Socks

I know I include bee products often, but I had to share these as well.  If there's one thing people notice about me on a regular basis, it is my socks.  I have a large collection of fun socks for pretty much every occasion, so it's only natural that I need to have these in my collection.  Unfortunately, the Gap store we went to on our epic shopping excursion a couple of weeks ago did not have these socks and I can't justify shipping on $8 socks (also, they're $8 for one pair of socks.  I like them, but $8?! Let's get real Gap, they're just socks).

What are you loving this week?

Favorite Oscar Looks

So, I didn't actually see the entire Oscars show (does it get longer every year, or is it just me getting old?), but what I did see enough to share my favorite looks from the evening.

KW always looks impeccable.  In a sea of black tuxes and boring, colorless gowns, this coral beauty stood out in the best possible way.  I loved it from the moment I saw it on the red carpet, and it was still one of my favorites after seeing the entire show.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

This girl can do no wrong.  Seriously.  She fell up the stairs to accept her Oscar and still managed to be delightful and oh so charming.  This big, beautiful dress suits her burgeoning career perfectly.

Jennifer Anniston in Valentino

Despite the pained expression, Jennifer Anniston's dress makes me extremely happy.  It's bright and bold, yet classic and timeless.  It also reminds me of the dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Funny Face, which makes me love it even more.

Sally Field in Valentino

I know I'm in the minority in liking Sally Field's dress, but I think she wears it incredibly well.  The vibrant color is youthful, fun, yet classic.  Remove the ruffles, and this dress would be even better.

Ben Affleck in Gucci

The big winner of the night and the object of my junior high affections, Ben Affleck always looks dashing in my eyes. His perfectly tailored tux combined with his facial hair makes him look handsome and down to earth.

Channing Tatum in Gucci and Jenna Dewan Tatum

Cutest couple ever.  This is going to be one gorgeous, stylish baby. That is all.

Joseph Gordon Levitt in Gucci

Every time I see a new Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie, I love him more.  He's so talented and versatile and he can rock a tuxedo.  Even better, he wore fun bicycle socks to the Oscars, proving that he is, in fact, my kindred spirit.

Happy Weekendings

I don't know about you, but I am so glad this week is finally over.  Even though it was a short work week, it dragged on and on for me, partly because I have been sick this week (yuck) and partly because I've had several things requiring my immediate attention pop up (double yuck).

So, I'm ready to put this week in the rearview and focus on fun things this weekend.  Like seeing Jennifer Lawrence win an Oscar on Sunday.

Haute Look - Love her and hoping to see her win!

While dying some more pants!  I purchased some white pants from Goodwill weeks ago and I've been slowly working on making them skinny fit (with varying levels of success).  I've gotten the fit as good as I am able, so they are all set to take on new, fun colors.  I was still debating which colors I wanted, when I found the perfect color on an episode of Happy Endings.  I can't find a picture from the show, but this is pretty close:

Via - like these, but less pink

And finally unpacking the shopping bags from our mega shopping trip last weekend (I took your advice on how to spend my first check and it. was. awesome.)

This picture was taken Monday, but it looks exactly the same today.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

A Favorite for Friday

I wasn't going to do a post on my favorites this week because we've been really busy with a wonderful guest visiting and the 'holiday' yesterday, but then I saw something that made me change my mind.  And, I simply cannot wait a whole week to include this in a blog post.

What's so amazing it can't wait?  The Disney Prince Hotness Ranking.

This list ranks the top ten Disney 'princes'.  The fatal flaw for this list is, of course, that not all of these guys are actually princes.  I'll let this oversight slide for the sake of the importance of this list.

I feel as though I have been compiling this list subconsciously my entire life as I watch Disney movies, so seeing someone's careful opinions on the subject was entertaining.  While the author made some well reasoned points regarding hotness, I have some opinions of my own on the subject.

For the record, Prince Eric gets my vote as the hottest Disney prince.  He's got perfect hair, he celebrates his birthdays on a boat, he has statues of himself at said birthday boat celebrations, and his dog, Max, is the most adorable sidekick ever.  My vote may also have something to do with the fact that The Little Mermaid was the first Disney movie I actually remember from my childhood.

Now I want to know your thoughts on the subject, who do you think is the hottest Disney prince and why?

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  I've never been a huge fan of Valentine's Day, but witty valentine's cards?  I can get behind those.  So, here's my gift to you this Valentine's Day, a collection of my favorite Valentine's from around the web, featuring some of my favorite television shows and movies.

I had to start with Dwight from The Office.  He is my muse.

AD Valentines by Marisa Seguin via Buzzfeed

It was really difficult to choose my favorite Arrested Development valentine to choose out of the many stellar options.  Blue Tobias won out, since he is one of the beset characters ever created for television.  You should probably click the link to see the others.

It wouldn't be a holiday without something witty from Maggie Smith as the incomparable Dowager Countess of Grantham.

Sharon (or Boomer, or Athena, or Number Eight, however you prefer to refer to her), was never my favorite Battlestar character (hello, did you see Starbuck? She's way cooler.), but I love the message in this one.

There are so many great Dr. Who themed valentine's out there, but this Dalek one makes me geek heart happy.

The only thing that would make this better is if it were a picture of the real Ron Swanson (or, Nick Offerman, however you refer to him).

This one combines two of my favorite things:  The Hunger Games and Teen Girl Squad.  Valentine's win.

I saw and fell in love with these Harry Potter valentines a year ago.  They're all so cute, it was tough to pick just one.  Congrats on your victory, Draco.

Sadly, the Sherlock valentines are few and far between, but I love the reference to the latest episode in this one.

It seems appropriate to end with this gem from The Office, since this iconic saying inspired the tagline on this very blog.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday, Friday, I love new stuff on Friday (I don't actually know that song, clearly).  This has been kind of a crazy week, starting a new job and all, but I still managed to pull together things that I've been loving lately.

Bee Snood

I don't really understand why these must be called 'snoods' when they're just round scarves, but the name isn't what I like about this.  You can't really tell in this picture, but the print on this is bees.  You know how much I love my bees, so this immediately caught my eye (the $17 price tag helps too).

American Girl Quiz

I loved this quiz.  It brought me back to my childhood in the best way possible.   Their explanations were spot on and hilarious.  I loved all the American Girl books and somehow convinced my parents to spend a ridiculous amount of money on one of thee dolls (can you guess which one?).

Ivan & Alyosha-"Running for Cover"

YouTube (also the first video I've ever posted)

My friend Molly has wonderful taste in music and has introduced me to some of my favorite bands over the years.  She recently sent me the link to this video, and after listening to it one time I was hooked.  It just makes me smile, even when I'm running, which is an extremely difficult task.

Jim & Pam

I wasn't thrilled with the direction the show was taking Jim & Pam's relationship over the last few episodes, but it looks like the show is bringing back the adorably cute Halperts we all know and love.   They are one of the best TV couples ever, and although I am sad to see them go since the show is ending in May, I hope their story ends as perfectly as it has been told thus far.

What do you love this week?  More importantly, which American Girl doll did (/do) you have?

Workin' Girl

I apologize for the lame title, but I'm going to make up for it with my awesome news.  I have a job.  Yes, finally.  I've tried to not post about my rather long and extensive job search on here, which is good because it would be really sad and boring.

Besides having a purpose to get out of the house everyday, this news is especially great because I have a paycheck.  According to my husband, it is my duty to blow my first paycheck.  Ok, he didn't say it was my duty, but he said I should blow it and I'm not going to let him rescind this offer.

The issue, of course, is what to buy with my first paycheck.

I could invest in a new camera and/or lenses that I've been eyeing for ages....

Canon 7D from Amazon

Or, I could update my wardrobe that has been neglected over the past few years.....

I have a feeling JCrew would be involved in this scenario.  A lot of JCrew

Or, I could buy all the really expensive things we didn't get off our wedding registry.....

This Le Creuset pot is just gorgeous, how have I not bought this already?!

Or, I could do a combination of all three.  Or, I could buy something else entirely.  Or nothing.  Infinite possibilities are bad for indecisive people like me.

What would you spend your money on?  Do you or your spouse have a policy to blow your first paycheck?
