Workin' Girl

I apologize for the lame title, but I'm going to make up for it with my awesome news.  I have a job.  Yes, finally.  I've tried to not post about my rather long and extensive job search on here, which is good because it would be really sad and boring.

Besides having a purpose to get out of the house everyday, this news is especially great because I have a paycheck.  According to my husband, it is my duty to blow my first paycheck.  Ok, he didn't say it was my duty, but he said I should blow it and I'm not going to let him rescind this offer.

The issue, of course, is what to buy with my first paycheck.

I could invest in a new camera and/or lenses that I've been eyeing for ages....

Canon 7D from Amazon

Or, I could update my wardrobe that has been neglected over the past few years.....

I have a feeling JCrew would be involved in this scenario.  A lot of JCrew

Or, I could buy all the really expensive things we didn't get off our wedding registry.....

This Le Creuset pot is just gorgeous, how have I not bought this already?!

Or, I could do a combination of all three.  Or, I could buy something else entirely.  Or nothing.  Infinite possibilities are bad for indecisive people like me.

What would you spend your money on?  Do you or your spouse have a policy to blow your first paycheck?

  1. Hooray! Congratulations!!!

I think I'd go for the clothes first. The camera will lead to an avalanche of more purchases...get the wardrobe ready first!

    1. You make a very good point! I've been saving for a new camera anyway, so I can just wait and buy it when I have some extra funds.

  2. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I hope I can join you in the ranks of employment soon.

I can't wait to get a job so I can go on a major clothes shopping spree, so I vote that. :-)

  3. Congratulations on the job! That's so exciting! I've never blown my entire paycheck in one go, but if I did ... probably designer shoes. :)

    1. Yeah, I doubt I will actually blow the entire thing, I would feel too guilty, but it's fun to imagine :)

  5. Congrats on the new job!!! I've never blown a paycheck, but I did use my first (very small bonus) on a new printer. If I could blow a paycheck now I think I would use it on a vacation or a new lens for the camera.

    1. Thanks, what kind of lens would you get? I can't get a new camera and lens, but it's fun to dream!

    1. Thanks! Of course I can spend money now that I have no time to actually go to the mall, such is life.

  7. Congrats on the job! That's super exciting. :) I have to tell you, as soon as I saw the pot my first thought was "of course the pot is green!" (but in a nice, friendly way not a snarky way, promise)

    1. Ha! You obviously know me well :) To be fair, we have quite a few LC pans, but none in green, so I kinda need it.
